The Community Garden - part of St. John’s Spiritual Garden
Calling volunteers!
Are you interested in helping us to get growing? We need volunteers throughout the growing season - individuals, families and classrooms to serve in various roles.
SPRING:
As a Seedling Foster Parent, you would start seeds indoor in late March to be transplanted into the garden in May. St. John’s provides the seeds, potting soil and growing trays. The Seedling Foster Parents provide sunny windowsills and TLC. Last year, the Seedling Foster Parent Program gave the garden such a head start that we were able to harvest our first crops and make our first donation of fresh vegetables to the Fare Share Food Bank in mid-June.
SUMMER:
Watering, weeding, and harvesting continue through the good weather. Faithful volunteers are needed to come by on schedule for these tasks. Individuals sign up to ensure that there’s always someone to keep these thirsty plants well watered and cared for.
FALL:
Final harvesting, clean-up, putting away equipment and ensuring everything is ready for the winter.
WINTER:
Planning for next year is always fun!
